This book is compact, light-weight, practical, and has up to date information on the Alberques. I would highly recommend it as a take along guidebook for the Camino. Its great advantage is that it is narrowly focused on information you may need. As you can see from this page, this publisher has a whole series on many different Jakobsweg routes.

This book is also compact, light-weight, and practical. It's best asset are the detailed maps. It's organization is a little too "busy" for my eyes, and after a long day of walking I found it to be in the category of "information overload". It would be a second choice of the german guide books that I would consider carrying.

I was hoping this book would give me more confidence as a woman about to walk 800 km alone across Spain. What I got from this book was a strange mixture of one person's experience mixed with sudden shifts of obligatory historical information. Since the author also constantly reminds us of how as a child she was always preparing herself for a life of outdoor challenges, it is difficult for the average pilgrim to relate to her experiences and to use that information on their own journey. Can't really recommend it.

I would not recommend this book as your choice of guidebooks. It has rather good maps, but the book just seems to be a bit too reduced in amount of information for my comfort.
